Chapter 4 should be out in the next following weeks but here is a sneak peak for while you wait!
Thalia stood at the bow of the Nightingale, looking out into the gathering darkness. She could hear the rustling of the wind in the sails, the swashing of the ocean as it broke around the schooner, and the sound of faraway voices carried over the sea.
No sign of danger yet, but she had to stay vigilant. As the primary leader of the Nightingales, the responsibility for any mistake would fall upon her shoulders, possibly resulting in a dock in pay.
Her teammates wouldn’t blame her, of course, but they relied on her, and she couldn’t afford to let them down.
Esfir sailed over the small convoy that the Nightingales had been hired to protect, the golden edges of her feathers all the more fiery in the dying red light of the sun. She’d been instructed to call out if she spotted anything, but Thalia still couldn’t shake her feeling of perturbation.
“You should get some rest, Lia,” said Micah from behind her. “You’ve been staring at the sea ever since we got that letter.”
