"On January 8, 1815, the young American nation saw the glorious victory at the Battle of New Orleans with Andrew Jackson and his army of native New Orleans and Tennessee men - as well as other battalions - being an army of nearly ten thousand miraculously defeat their British enemies - an army of almost twice their size. The battle saw little casualty on the American front, but was a severe tragedy to the British, and because of that, the remaining general of the British enemies surrendered a flag of truce, requesting for the Americans to hold fire (they knew that trying to do any more hostility toward the Americans would result in total annihilation), so that they may bury their dead. That day and that victory is still honored and celebrated to this day, as it saved the near most important city from tyrannic control."
