that's why he sleeps around ... and messes around——seeing how damon wishes not to be alone, or deal with commitment. he /knew/ he was a fucked up guy but honestly? he didn't see a problem with that ... but even sociopath's have their limits--their breaking points and he'd do that.. even for the people he deeply cares about.
