He was sad.
But I wanted to be sure.
So I asked,
a simple question.

"If you could take
your last breath
right now,
would you take it?"

Before I could
finish my
last word he said,

"In an instant."

"Why?"

"Because.
My life isn't worth it."

"Don't say that."

"Would you take it?"

I hesitantly responded.
"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because with you
gone there'd be
no reason
for me to live."
