His fingers twitched, ichor dripping to hiss on the glowing sigils, but he didn’t step closer. “Easy,” he muttered, voice calm but strained, shadows behind him roiling like smoke caught in a storm. “I’m—” He paused, jaw clenching, black veins pulsing along his throat as the demon behind him lunged again, snapping at the circle’s edge with teeth made of shadow and fire. Damian’s hand shot out, claws cracking into place as he pushed the thing back with a snarl, a flicker of something monstrous in the glow of his eye before he wrestled it down. He exhaled, shaking slightly, forcing the claws to retract as he turned back to her. “I’m containing it,” Damian said, quieter now, but the edge of panic ghosted under the calm. “It’s stuck here. I’m making sure it doesn’t get out and—” A screech cut him off, the demon trying to claw at the barrier again, spitting flame against invisible walls. Damian’s eye flicked toward it, then back to her, jaw tightening. “Please don’t run,” he added, softer, ragged. “Because if you run, it will chase you. And I’m really not in the mood to bury another body today.” His gold eye steadied on hers, something tired and human flickering behind the glow, even as the shadows hissed at the edge of the circle.

[@blqndiee] Arachnes idly tapped her claws against her metal arm, the soft clinking of metal on metal accompanying the quiet tune she hummed, lost in thought. Her face remained unreadable, head tilted ever so slightly, until one brow lifted with a sudden idea. “If you keep quiet about what you saw here,” she said calmly, “you’ll walk away in one piece.” She raised a single finger. “But…” A pause hung heavy in the air. “We’ll be watching you—closely. We’re everywhere… even when you think you’re alone.”
