My husband's Korean, and yep, clear-cut studies and tangible careers are what Korean parents demand. Not a bad thing (I wish my parents pushed me more, then I could've been a PhD *and a writer..
@booklover123222 You might like reading Simon Winchester's 'The Man Who Loved China'. The true story put to narrative nonfiction about a genious British scientist who falls in love with a Chinese scientist, and after he spends a couple years learning Chinese, he takes off to Vhina during WWII and unearths all of China's inventions. It's proof that you can take different skills and carve out a cool career.
