how many words do you consider too long for a chapter? i fear the next update for something wicked this way comes might be around 7-8k words and i’m scared!!

@GirlPotterheadXx i try to keep a max of 6k words for this book chapter five is the longest so far it’s a little over 7k. i have an outline for the entire act and i know how i want all of the content distributed so there’s no weird cut offs and there’s not too many chapters. i hate super long chapters but i also don’t want the story to drag on too much

10k words, but it really depends on the content of the chapter. if a lot of it is original/attention grabbing then it should be fine, but sometimes my chapters are providing context that is already shown in the show so it feels repetitive and kinda boring so i’ll split it up

i used to have this old stranger things fic that had southern/ethel cain/gothic horror vibes. it was supposed to take place in season one my oc and her father owned a farm and the fc was fivel stewart. i have the slight urge to bring it back as maybe a stonathan fic or just a jonathan byers fic…it’s so hard to write multiple fics at once though :/
