I pull my pocket knife and get in a fighting position, "What do you want?" My voice unintentionally shakes.
He pulls his own gun from the back of his jeans, "You. In my car. Now."
"Shoot me." I dare him.
"What?" He asks, his eyebrows only folding slightly.
"I said, shoot me you damned coward!"
Tears prick my eyes. I didn't value my life anymore, and a gunshot would be quick, right? Kill not just me, but all of the pain.
He lowers his gun after I lower my knife, dropping my only weapon it to the wooden porch, tears rolling down my cheeks, my body numb.
If this is how it had to be, then fine.
He walks up to me slowly, his face inches from mine, a rich mans scent coming off of him. He runs this tip of his nose down the rim of mine.
"You're in a broken home, a broken life. I can fix that, make it all go away..." He whispers gently.
How did he know?..
"Just come with me Jennifer," he wraps his left arm around my back and holds his gun to my cheek, "I can show you what home is."
