I've always been a voracious reader and have had the idea of trying to write floating in the back of my mind. I've worked on and off as a contract sportswriter for the last ten years and minored in journalism in college, so I had put words on paper to be read before.
I had a realization in early September 2014 that I had come to a point where I was still reading as much as I ever had, but all my reading time was taken up by sales newsletters and political blogs. How could I ever expect to write The Great American Novel if I couldn't name ten novelists?
So I signed up for Kindle Unlimited and filled up my Kindle. Blake Crouch was my first discovery, and then I was fortunate to find the wonderful world of TW Brown. I read all of Edward Robertson's Breakers series and want to read more. And then I found Sterling and Stone. Sean, Johhny, and Dave kept me entertained for months.
I love to read Mark Dawson and David Beers. I devour Jason Brant's funny, gory, breezy novels. Steven Konkoly and Bobby Adair are favorites, as are Barry Eisler, Ninie Hammon and Russell Blake. Glynn James and Michael Stephen Fuchs do great work together.
For craft and being an authorpreneur the above-mentioned Sean, Johnny and Dave are the guys I want to be when I grow up. I follow Joanna Penn and Mark Dawson's advice zealously, as well as Nick Stephenson, Nick Thacker, Lindsay Buroker and The Sell More Books Show guys.
I am blessed in that I love the work I do. I'm a salesman in the electronic payments industry; I get paid, well, to wander around, talk to people, and make new friends all day. Beat that with a stick.
I live out in the country with my Pretty Young Wife, Brandee, aka Bubbles. We have three daughters and a pair of world- beater granddaughters and we never know how many are gonna be by for dinner.
