- PART I OF MESSAGE -

hey everyone <3 it’s been a tough time in the world lately. it feels like everything is literally crumbling, but this feeling is just another sign of our privilege! we get to escape violence and darkness just by way of how we look, our societal places, economic value, or even where we’re born. and despite any burnout or fatigue we have because of social media, it is so so so important to stay informed. knowledge is power.

i encourage any and all of you to sign necessary #BlackLivesMatter petitions, donate where you can, and make sure to educate yourself and others around you. if you would like to talk or discuss this or anything else, i would love to talk to you! don’t hesitate to reach out. i also have a helpful link in my bio that you can gain insight and links from if you need them.

there are plenty of ways YOU GUYS SPECIFICALLY can help with this situation. include more poc (specifically black) in your writing, have the heart and humility to educate yourself on stereotypes so you don’t accidentally fall into the habit of leaning on them for culture, don’t thrust diversity onto some hapless side character, use more ethnically diverse face claims, and read more poc literature! if you need diverse book or movie recommendations, hmu.

i also want to make sure you are all aware of the destruction and horror that is occurring in yemen, and to help in any way you see fit. it is absolutely heartbreaking, and the lack of news coverage on it is embarrassing. to my fellow westerners, we need to do better.

i ALSO wanted to let you all know that i will be taking DBTO down for editing. don’t worry, it’ll be back up and running asap!!! i have improved a lot in my writing since i first began the story, and felt i owed it to the characters to tell their truths the best way i can.

thank you for understanding, reading, and supporting. if you read this far, WOW! you are amazing. make a positive difference in the world today! we are the youth and the unbending. i am unbelievably proud of our generation.

as always, fully and wholly yours in love and written word!

          xoxo,
