          but how exactly are they planning to decide what counts as an “islamic” veil? what if she’s catholic, a nun, jewish, has cancer, or simply has her own reasons for covering? but hey, apparently it’s fine if you’re a nun bc you work for a church … even some cops are against this, like that’s how weird this whole thing is.
          
          also what’s next??? are we going to have to wear an “M” on our clothes so police officers can identify us as Muslims? are certain jobs going to become off-limits to us? are we going to have specific hours where we’re not allowed to go outside? bc at some point you have to acknowledge how disturbingly familiar this rhetoric is. it starts little by little. first the media constantly demonises a minority, then ppl around you start repeating it, then you introduce “small” discriminatory laws, and eventually those things become normalised.
          
          ppl saying “dw, it won’t pass, it’s unconstitutional” are missing the point. this is about human rights and bodily autonomy too.
          
          oh and btw, this is colonialist thinking yet again: “liberating” women by taking away their right to choose. whether she covers her hair, her face, wears a veil, or nothing at all — SHE. gets. to. choose. 
          
          this is just sexist, discriminatory + xenophobic.

I've been a silent reader of your Bruce Wayne book for a while now, and I just wanted to say, as a Middle Eastern girl, your book was the first book in which an Arab girl was the main protagonist. I'm sure there are other books with a Middle Eastern protagonist but I never found one until I stumbled upon that book and it seriously made me so happy, it surprised me too in a good way. I just wanted you to know that I love your books and I hope you're doing okay, both you and your family. <3
