Dear whomever this may apply to in school districts (or whatever) ,

I think you should be concerned about how hard you are working the children in your schools. You expect them to get everything done. Do you know how much work they give us on the daily? If you give us too much work, we get overwhelmed. I am actually a victim, so to say, of getting overwhelmed on how much work you provide us. I think that quiet people like me that are having to speak in front of people or doing something that we are not comfortable with, hurts us. In the seventh grade I was depressed about a lot of things and was having suicidal thoughts. To this day I still have them. One of the multiple reasons I was depressed is because of having too much work and deadlines and if I was going to pass or fail if I didn’t do this or that. Another reason is when the teacher(s) would say, “When everyone is done with (insert poster or any other type of work), you’ll have to present it to the class.” I had many anxiety attacks in the seventh grade because of that, so I didn’t come to school on those days. It was harmful to me, and other people around me. When I was feeling sad or hurt, I would have fits of anger towards my family and friends at different parts of the day. That was how I coped with my sadness. I became a rage monster, in a way. What I’m trying to say is, if you give us too much work, provide us with tasks that we are not good at, or make us speak in front of the class or other people, we will get thoughts that we should not have in our minds because one thing will lead to another and the next thing you know, we’re not here anymore. You should get your teachers to be aware on students behavior, such as you’re happy one day, sad the next or you’re sad all the time. Teachers should be able to know the signs of depression.
