i don't know if anyone has felt like this but i just kinda wanted to get it off my chest cause this is where i rant but i prefer they/them pronouns. it's as simple as that. people use they/them pronouns as a singular all the time, but people don't know they are doing it because it's subconscious. when i told my mom i use they/them pronouns, she told me that they cannot be a singular. i was very upset. my dad then tells me that the internet is telling me who i should be, and i'll never get to look androgynous. when i cut my hair shorter my grandpa asked why i did it and i said i wanted to look more androgynous, and he just laughed. when my grandpa hears me talking about LGBTQ+ he says i'm "too young to know that yet" and it really aggravates me. the only people who respect me and care about me as a genuine person are my conservative family members. and that doesn't sit right with me that my LIBERAL family doesn't respect me. i just don't understand. so when my family uses she/her pronouns with me, i feel like i can't say anything or correct them out of fear that they are going to get mad at me and tell me who i should be. and i am scared about how they completely ignore me as a person and i'm really tired of it but i don't know how to get them to stop.
