per my last announcement, after scrolling for a while longer, I found the literal PERFCET fic. 
          
          it has the ship I wanted, it's lightly dnd based, so it's interesting for me (someone who doesn't have the slightest idea about dnd) to read, the grammar is impeccable, the plot is amazing, the characters are written believably, and I'll be damned if I said I wasn't hooked. 
          
          tldr; follow your dreams, even if you don't get it right the first few tries.
