To the followers of my other account who saw the messages from my friends on here - unfortunately it’s true. Whoever decided my Star Wars character insert fanfictions violate copyright (which under Wattpad’s guidelines it does unfortunately, but come on, it’s fanfiction) came back for round 2 after getting one of my chapters deleted and now, not only is the entirety of that story gone, but my account has been terminated along with it.
I worked for two years on that story, one of which was spent posting it on my fanfiction account and growing it to the point where it had 115k total views and about 4.35k votes. 119 chapters that I spent two years of my life on, flushed down the toilet because someone can’t be flexible with the rules like most fanfiction writers are. That’s also two other uncompleted works gone along with it, and I’m just lucky I had the foresight to write the stories somewhere else, and back up the final tweaks I made on Wattpad before posting.
Understandably (I hope) I am very upset and royally pissed off that someone would think it’s okay to do this to someone else. I understand it violates the guidelines, but who was I hurting? I’m not profiting off posting a fanfiction, I’m not taking attention away from a multimillion dollar franchise that is infinitely more well known than a single small fanfiction, and I certainly wasn’t
being malicious to anyone. But I WAS helping people. I had readers comment my works were the highlight of their day, or getting them through their week, and it genuinely made me happy to know I was making others happy or helping them feel better about whatever was going on in their current lives. It was helping me too - helping me gain confidence as a writer who wants to publish a book someday and get comfortable putting my work out there to see. And I certainly am not the first person to post character insert fanfictions in the style that I do.
So yeah. Whoever is responsible, I hope you’re proud of yourself.
