WHY SEASON 4 OF STRANGER THINGS WAS AN ABSOLUTE DUMPSTERFIRE

Part 2: Racism and Lack of Diversity
It's always been interesting to me how little POC characters there are in Stranger Things. And dont tell me "girl it was the 80s" okay sis? and? there were plenty of people of color in the 1980s. We've kind of been in America since the beginning. This show taking place in the 1980s, a time when racial issues weren't commonly talked abt is no excuse for the serious lack of diversity. This show was made originally in 2016. They couldve done more. The four major (kinda) POC characters that I can think of are the following, in this order: Lucas, Erica, Argyle, Black General dude who i cant be bothered to look up the name of bc i dont fucking care abt him. Fourth major(?) POC character had to be portrayed as a villain in the series. Everyone dislikes him bc he was tryna shut down the Nina Project or whatever it was he was doing. He's also sadistic and ominous remember how he was torturing that other black dude
Next I want to go over Argyle. I have never, ever hated a character as much as I loathe Argyle. It's not for him himself, it's the way he was written. The third major POC character, and also the only Latino character had to be a stoner, a comedic relief, incredibly stupid, useless, and say fucking "brochachos." like wtf. He is a horrible Mexican stereotype. Next Erica. I just don't really understand why the second major black character and the only FEMALE BLACK CHARACTER had to act the way she does. She is the stereotypical Black girl. She gives off "period sis material gworl" energy. She is sassy, sarcastic, and bratty because this was written by two white men who have no idea what Black women are like. She is funny sometimes, but she doesnt have to be this way all the time. Finally Lucas. I don't have many problems w/him except for the fact that the only major Black male character had to be a BASKETBALL player. like seriously. anyways next

          Part 1: New Characters
One of the things that the Duffers wrote the best in season 2, my second least favorite season, was the new characters. We got introductions to three new characters: Max, Billy, and Bob. All three of these characters were either likable or had lots of character depth. They also built up attachment to these characters EXTREMELY well. Particularly with Max and Bob. I'm pretty sure 90% of Stranger Things viewers were upset by Bob's death. And I was miserable seeing Max half die this season, bc shes been in the show for three seasons now. Shes funny, relatable, has depth, and sadie sink fucking slays in the show. In this show I didn't care even slightly abt like half of the people that died, those people being Chrissy, Jason, Fred, Patrick, and, the most controversial of my unpopular opinions, Eddie. LMAO I DIDNT CARE ABT THEM AT ALL SJSJSJ
i cared a bit abt eddie bc i was a slight bit attached to his character. But barely. We'd only had him for one season, but he was funny, sweet, and cute, so i was a bit sad. However, with all of the other characters' deaths, it was impossible for me to care, because the attachment to them was built up so poorly. We only got a small glimpse into their lives, Chrissy having (probably?) an ED, and Fred like got in a car crash or something and it killed the other dude. Jason was an asshole all season so who fucking cares. There is no attachment built up to the new characters and there are also way too many new characters. Like that black general dude (omg the diVeRsiTy and iNcLusiViTy!!!11!!!) who tf even was he. Did he even do anything like at all. Those other characters that died were useless and i didnt give a shit. The buildup of attachment to Eddie was also shit imo but others cared. It was a stupid writing decision bc eddie was a comfort character to so many, and a ton of people loved him. A lot of people are incredibly upset by his death.
