Charles Reed Cagle grew up in Clarksville, Texas, where he was born in 1962. Mr. Reed Cagle has been married to his wife, Donna, for approximately 30 years. From 1999 until 2017, they lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with their son, before returning to Plano, Texas, in 2018. Charles Reed Cagle has been involved in various aspects of the energy industry over the last 35 years.

Mr. Reed Cagle began his career as an associate with Kinlaw Oil Corporation in 1986. In 1996, he moved to Dallas, Texas, to help start a tiny independent energy company. Mr. Cagle was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Heartland Energy, Inc., which later became HEI, which he created in 1997. He sought the support of operators, drilling contractors, geophysicists, engineers, service firms, and a broad variety of energy industry skills, following the advice of joint venture partners. In 2006, Charles Reed Cagle joined the drilling service business, investing in and building a 2000 horsepower drilling rig capable of drilling up to 20,000 feet deep.

In 2011, Charles Reed Cagle started working in the mining industry in the United States and South America. He bought a gold mining concession in Oregon that generated 89,000 ounces of gold. In Copiapo, Chile, Charles Reed Cagle was in charge of the funding and day-to-day operations of a copper and gold processing facility. He devised a patented process for eliminating and neutralizing dangerous chemicals from liquids while recovering precious metals as a consequence of his mining expertise. This method is being used in Copiapo and has the potential to be used in the mining sector all over the world.
