Does anyone have any unpopular 21 jump street opinions? I'm curious to know if other ppl view the writing and characters :)

@cherrybabeluv I don’t know if you can call it a unpopular opinion or a nitpick but everytime someone say 21 Jump Street they automatically think about the movie when in fact it’s a show that came out in the 80’s. Granted I don’t think people were checking for it when they seen the movie but I think the show needs to be talked about just as much as the movie. I think it’s underrated has some good episodes from any series I ever watched. I’m waiting for someone to do like a deep dive of the series on YouTube. I think I might be the one to do so lol

My unpopular opinion is that I think tom is kind of overrated. I know I’m literally writing a Tom fic so yikes lol BUT I think the show ran out of steam for what to do with him in season 2. In season 3 and especially 4 he’s just kind of there. outside of the end of s3 and his feud with Booker, Doug really becomes the main character of the show. And it’s not that I think Tom is a bad character, I just think if he was played by anyone other than Johnny Depp we wouldn’t love him as much. But I do love him . I just love Doug a little more lol.

@cherrybabeluv yeah tbh I think Tom’s character suffered mostly bc of behind the scenes stuff since Johnny apparently was already trying to get out of his contract by s2, so that’s why I think they really kind of threw everything at his character in that season to get the most out of him in case the show didn’t get renewed
