No one chooses to live in Bronford. The four central blocks of flats tower over a wasteland of stained and crumbling concrete. A wall, topped with barbed wire, surrounds the school and the playground is beyond repair.

Yet, as many of the residents told me; ‘You jus' get on wi' it.’ There is a strong feeling of community spirit and I am proud that they have allowed me to tell their stories.

This is a book of seven short tales. Each tells the story of the same eventful seven days, from seven very different, brave and resilient residents.

Every city has a Bronford.
