> There are worlds in each of us. We need but step inside ourselves and experience the explosive force of the lies that are more true than any life we've seen.

Musician by training, software developer by profession, writer by accident.

I started writing in May of 2017. I wanted to write music, but I couldn't find words that I liked enough. So... I thought I should write my own. The problem is that I wasn't much of a fan of my writing, so I thought I should practice a bit. I started listening to lectures and doing the exercises.

I think the eureka moment, the moment I was in this for a bit of a long haul, was when I did a writing exercise and I suddenly realized that one of my characters was lying. It wasn't that I was *making* the character lie, the character was lying even though I originally intended him to tell the truth.

Characters (and stories) aren't simply built. They may be labored on, they may be crafted, but they are creatures of their own making. The image of Athena coming forth from the mind of Zeus, fully grown and fully armored seems apt, but not because these things, these "creations" come from our mind. No, they are discovered where they are, figures hidden in the rock.
