Just completed the last part of "I Remember the Boy".
Short story lang talaga siya, but as it turns out, mahaba pala yung Part 3.
I hope maging special din sa inyo itong story.

Dogs have been humanity’s best friend since ancient times. About 12,000 years ago, archaeologists discovered the skeleton of a fifty-year-old woman buried alongside the remains of a puppy. Her hand rested on the dog in what appeared to be a gesture of affection—tangible evidence of the deep bond between humans and dogs that has existed for millennia.

Perhaps this is why stories of dogs’ loyalty and unwavering love resonate so deeply with us. They never fail to warm the heart.

It’s also why, while listening to If by Bread, I didn’t imagine a romantic love story between a man and a woman. Instead, I pictured something different—because why not?
If a picture paints a thousand words, then Koji could never paint Bread. No words could ever capture just how much of a person this Dachshund was to him.
I chose a eulogy for the narrative as a tribute to our dogs that we lost recently — Max and Sky. I have a cynophobia, but these guys taught me how to overcome that fear.
