            while immoral , krueger could understand the appeal of the man's expertise at their beck and call . the cia had found their perfect mutt , it seemed , one that'd learned to love its crate . freedom exchanged for a bone . or explosives , in this case .

            "yeah! I actually chose  ,  chose jail  ...  but well  ,  I'm simply me  ,  and this is the cia." he gave a small shrug. the whole chipped  ,  isolated  ,  constant supervision thing didn't appeal to him at the beginning. as the other had said  ,  he was treated as a rabid dog  ,  and he had grown comfortable with it.
            
            "I get to blow up a lot  ,  a lot of stuff here  ,  so I don't mind. in jail I  ,  at most  ,  rigged cameras to explode. here? I'm given permission to  ,  given permission to make things as dangerous as nukes!" he had made quite a few of those. albeit  ,  it was by command  ,  but he enjoyed building all of them nonetheless. 
            
            he let out a quiet laugh  ,  slightly swaying where he stood. "and you? what do you do? what  ,  what?"

beneath the mesh veil , the soldier's brows furrowed as he observed the other , his habits , somewhat curious about the cause of his repeated speech . brain damage , speech impediment , theatrics ? it wasn't uncommon in their field of work , wasn't important enough to question . 
            
            the man's answer itself gave krueger pause , not to mention his apparent amusement , and its interest piqued just a bit further . curiosity was a dangerous thing .

            felix was the same in a lot of ways , and yet different .  perhaps that’s why both men got along so well despite their differences , it made the german content that there was someone else to talk to besides his main fellow rogues .  that there was someone who could understand him so deeply .  “ kindly refrain  ,  please .  and i’ll see to it that you don’t drive yourself into something reckless due to exhaustion .  ” he often did anyways , stopping enzo from doing something completely reckless .  yet , felix didn’t mind that .  he enjoyed the other’s company quite a lot , even with his slight lack of people skills .  “ i won’t be kicking you anytime soon  ,  promise .  luckily with my work legs aren’t often required unless i go with .  ”

            it's not like enzo could refute that. he  /  did  /  have quite the imagination. it wasn't like he could deaw up daily blueprints without it. as much as he enjoyed bombs  ,  even he had to admit that it was that broad of a subject. "not unless you want me to. just don't let me get too sleep deprived." he joked. mostly. even he couldn't predict what would happen in a moment like that. "singing appliances though? much more likely than you'd assume." why have a timer on a microwave when you could have it sing to you? plus  ,  it made the whole  '  won't blow up by the time it gets to 0  '  thing less sad. enzo spared a small glance towards the desk  before shrugging. to make a point he merely slumped down further where he sat. "it's quite comfortable  ,  actually. plus your hands are  /  busy  /  ..  this way I don't have to disreac you. just make sure you don't need your legs until you're done."

            “ interesting ?  i can only imagine such with the amount of..  imagination you often have .  ” he didn’t mean anything insulting by it , felix has just witnessed some of those ‘interesting’ ideas .  lucky those weren’t as worse as the other described .  “ i do hope you’re not planning to blow up this place anytime soon .  alder wouldn’t appreciate that nor would woods .  ” him and woods knew each other , but missions aside they didn’t talk much .  if anything most conversations were awkward at yet , not that felix was very sociable to begin with .  blue eyes soon glanced down once hearing enzo had stepped closer , what he didn’t expect was to see the said man laying on the floor next to his feet .  “ you could’ve gotten on the nearby desk..  or maybe a chair perhaps .  i don’t believe it’s very comfortable down there .  ”

            "I find a bomb is best used soon after its creation. allow them to settle and the impact is less .. " or maybe he was just impatient. could you  /  blame  /  him  ,  when this was the sight that followed? and although enzo had no specific desire to end the lives of others  ,  he couldn't help but laugh at the knowledge the destruction was to such an extent. face a flush with the simmering pride. "just happy , just happy they were there. made things better."

            “ like they say..  always save the best for last  ,  eh ?  ” holding onto the straps of his vest , pupils blown wide while looking at said explosion in the near distance .  its glow always provided him with clarity , with a rush he could never describe .  “ ghost and price thought now would be a better time than ever .  i’m just lucky those bastards are gone with it .  ”

            “ i would’ve much preferred a life without bloodshed .  though sadly the world of man does not work that way now does it ?  many of us are forced to withhold a   burden we never asked for .  ” he sighed softly , shaking away the thoughts from his head and focused on stirring the food instead .  “ i’m ramble too much  ,  aren’t i ?  forgive me .  and perhaps why those look at you weirdly is because they do not understand you completely .  nor do i but—  you’re decent company to keep .  ”

            "but your mistakes led you here , right? without them you wouldn't be well uh .. you!" the same could be said about his own. except , the only thing he would regret was not ending up here. "I believe I'm just .. bad at displaying it properly. people tend to look at me weirdly when I talk about my work , for some reason." he let out a dramatic sigh , slumping down where he sat.

            felix knew the team must’ve been growing hungry , although he knew enzo wasn’t behind him just from smell alone..  but for the flames as well .  he never understood it himself , felix wasn’t one to judge though .   “ guess so .  i’ve made many of mistakes in my life time .  working as a stasi enforcer was just one of them .  ” he frowned some , eyes pouring focus into the food currently boiling in the pot .  “ you’re quite intelligent all things considered .  perhaps you just choose to showcase otherwise .  for the ‘hell of it’ as they say .  ”

            “ the world can live without those who have egos .  many use them for their own personal reasons  ,  and i do not wish to be one of them .  ” shaking his head lightly , men in power often had egos and pushed out their own cruel agendas .  felix did not wish to fit into that box , often feared it..  feared he would become what he wished not to be .  not anymore .  “ if it’ll appease your mind then sure .  try and not making it in front of the others  ,  please ?  i don’t need insistent teasing .  from sevati namely .  ”

            "I think you could benefit from an ego. mine does wonders for myself!" he teased , peeking from around the cup. "it's no bother to remind you of your quality , felix. allow me to be selfish and compliment you every once in a while?" enzo requested while slowly lowering the cup , taking the time to take another  (  this time — gentler )  sip.

            despite his best efforts , felix couldn’t help but to let out a small laugh at the other’s attempt to hide their own embarrassment .  “ no need  ,  my friend .  there’s no need to go through such lengths for someone such as myself .  nor do i wish to accidentally grow some form of an ego .  ”
