"black star: the eternal soldier" fun fact #5: there are not one, but TWO dance scenes to taylor swift songs in the book. one is to "you are in love" and the other is to "we are never ever getting back together". neither are used in the context you probably think they are, but they ARE both starring lexi and peter. obviously.

big news that, for once, is completely unrelated to fandoms: as of this week, i'm officially a college student! i'm currently taking anthropology (history of magic and religion) and astronomy, which i'm SUPER excited about, as well as stats, which... i really couldn't care less about. but it's only 8 weeks, and i'm doing an online class, so i can complete the lessons at my own pace while blasting taylor swift, so whatever.

i think i'm in an educational version of the honeymoon phase right now, because what do you mean i'm basically taking the muggle world's version of history of magic at SCHOOL for a GRADE?! and what do you mean i don't have to take french?! i'm just. i have so many feels. the fact i'm a high school graduate is finally starting to sink in; multiple times during the week i've had to stop and go "holy shit, i'm at school right now." life is full of possibilities. possibilities that i should probably start considering to pick a major... hm. do we think i can get an associates degree in mcu studies?

this won't impact my profile — i'm not quitting or anything — but i just wanted to share. it's weird! but also kind of cool! and that's not a word i've ever used to describe school! ASTRONOMY AND MAGIC, you guys!!!!!!

"black star: the eternal soldier" fun fact #4: i recently finished watching through the defenders saga, which was in preparation for spider-man: brand new day. i'm very excited to flaunt all my new knowledge, though, so the manuscript is littered with references to them. a few minor characters from the shows also play an important role in act five.

"black star: the eternal soldier" fun fact #3: the plot of this book is closely connected to the plot of "hydra war". we're going to see the return of several characters and events that haven't been seen since then, as well as the follow-up to loose threads that were left dangling at the end.

"black star: the eternal soldier" fun fact #2: every sunday for the past several months, i've been watching a true crime doc on a different case. the goal of this is to understand the inner workings of the criminal justice system, from dispatcher response to trials; media response/coverage to tragic events like murder and kidnapping; and how families deal with the grief of losing someone in such a horrible way. this research is tangentially related to events in the book.

been doing my due diligence as a livie and playing "you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love" on repeat, and y'all... i hate to say it, but... "what's wrong with me" is insanely lexi/steve coded. everyone needs to go listen to it so i'm not suffering in this realization alone.

WELL. after about 10 months of work, i've finally finished writing the rough draft of bs4. currently, it's 84 chapters and nearly 214k words. i'm scared of myself, too.

HOWEVER. i do emphasize the phrase "rough draft" because those 84 chapters and 214k are a little bit like the winchester mystery house. gaping plot holes, half-baked arcs, wild inconsistencies, characters randomly appearing and disappearing and reappearing, and, of course, stairs to nowhere. basically, i just kept writing all the way to page 743 like nothing was wrong while everything behind me was actively burning. the grind never stops.

now that i have my thoughts all written down, though, i can redo the book to have much better quality, although its title is already locked in: "black star: the eternal soldier".

"but jupiter!!" i hear you say. "the eternal soldier isn't a character in the mcu!!!"

correct, wattpad user kind enough to support me!! you see, since i've effectively dismantled the mcu timeline to suit my own needs, there's now a gaping two year gap between where we left off with spider-man: homecoming and the inevitable avengers: infinity war. i figured i needed something new to fill that gap, so i decided to go deep into my archives. the eternal soldier's dna can be traced back to a character even older than lexi, my first mcu oc. i am SO UNBELIEVABLY EXCITED for you guys to read her story, and i've been working hard to make sure it's the best it can be (hence writing wayyyy too much). i won't say any more right now, but keep a lookout over the next few months for tidbits of information while i work to make lexi and the eternal soldiers' story into something coherent enough to enjoy.

          bye for now,
          jupiter xx
