"black star: the eternal soldier" fun fact #2: every sunday for the past several months, i've been watching a true crime doc on a different case. the goal of this is to understand the inner workings of the criminal justice system, from dispatcher response to trials; media response/coverage to tragic events like murder and kidnapping; and how families deal with the grief of losing someone in such a horrible way. this research is tangentially related to events in the book.

been doing my due diligence as a livie and playing "you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love" on repeat, and y'all... i hate to say it, but... "what's wrong with me" is insanely lexi/steve coded. everyone needs to go listen to it so i'm not suffering in this realization alone.

*comes crawling out of the writer dungeon covered in blood*

WELL. after about 10 months of work, i've finally finished writing the rough draft of bs4. currently, it's 84 chapters and nearly 214k words. i'm scared of myself, too.

HOWEVER. i do emphasize the phrase "rough draft" because those 84 chapters and 214k are a little bit like the winchester mystery house. gaping plot holes, half-baked arcs, wild inconsistencies, characters randomly appearing and disappearing and reappearing, and, of course, stairs to nowhere. basically, i just kept writing all the way to page 743 like nothing was wrong while everything behind me was actively burning. the grind never stops.

now that i have my thoughts all written down, though, i can redo the book to have much better quality, although its title is already locked in: "black star: the eternal soldier".

"but jupiter!!" i hear you say. "the eternal soldier isn't a character in the mcu!!!"

correct, wattpad user kind enough to support me!! you see, since i've effectively dismantled the mcu timeline to suit my own needs, there's now a gaping two year gap between where we left off with spider-man: homecoming and the inevitable avengers: infinity war. i figured i needed something new to fill that gap, so i decided to go deep into my archives. the eternal soldier's dna can be traced back to a character even older than lexi, my first mcu oc. i am SO UNBELIEVABLY EXCITED for you guys to read her story, and i've been working hard to make sure it's the best it can be (hence writing wayyyy too much). i won't say any more right now, but keep a lookout over the next few months for tidbits of information while i work to make lexi and the eternal soldiers' story into something coherent enough to enjoy.

          bye for now,
          jupiter xx

SO. i've been working on this little side project for quite some time now, and now it's finally ready to launch! for a very long time, i've wanted to have another profile where i could test out different stories, writing styles, book setups, etc. basically, if this is the profile where i try too hard to be professional, that would be my profile where i try to hard to be aesthetic.

and, well, that profile is now @vintagenotebook! information about what exactly i'll be doing (besides spending hours of my limited time on this planet making my books look pretty and nice and cool) can be found on that profile's message board. it took a loooooong ass time to get everything prepared, but it was worth it — i'm kind of obsessed with how it looks. plus, i took a leap in changing up my writing style to differ these two projects, and *fingers crossed* i think that's coming back around and making me a better writer over here as well. you guys will be the judge of that when bs4 is finally ready to publish... but i'm getting off-topic.

tl;dr, i have a brand-new profile, @vintagenotebook, so i can try out some things that are totally different from the usual fare i have here, and i'd appreciate it very much if you hopped over to check it out!

          much love,
          jupiter xx

last chapter and postlude of "a tale of wretched occurrences: the end" are out now! and, much like the book's name suggests, with the conclusion of the end, we come to the conclusion of the "a tale of wretched occurrences" series.

it's kind of surreal to think about how when i finish writing bs4, i won't be jumping back into the world of atowo, i'll be starting fresh with a whole new series. (side note, i won't be announcing that series until i have a name for it, but observant volunteers may have an idea of what fandom i'll be writing for.) this also ends phase 1 of my writing, because i'm so whipped for the mcu that i can't stop myself from formatting my beloved hobby the same way my beloved movie series is formatted.

i tried to end the series on new year's eve, because stranger things did it and i thought that was a great idea, but i miscounted the days and now we're here, ending it on new year's day. i guess having part 14 go live today isn't the worst thing that could happen, though. especially because this chapter has a one-year time skip, and it's uploading the year after parts 10-13, so... asoue humor.

i feel like i need to do something special to acknowledge the ending of atowo, so i'm going to change my banner to photos that represent black star and atowo, and each time i start a new series, i'll be adding photos to the banner to represent it as well.

and... wow. i think that's it; i've stalled the ending long enough. thank you to everybody who read atowo, and most especially those who voted and commented. maybe it seems small, but when readers aren't silent and interact with my books, it makes me SO delighted to know that people actually care about this.

i hope everyone has a wonderful– no, no, i'm supposed to be channeling lemony snicket right now. okay, i hope everyone has a most dreadful new year. see you in 2026 with new, horrid projects.

          much love,
          jupiter <3
