Hi! Here's the poem :) it's called "Maybe"
I thought
Maybe
But we go down.
She came to me as a cheap imitation
I believed it... offered her a place. She believed me.
We are gullible.
Keep your imitation, I told her,
Maybe we can hide
Maybe you can forget
Maybe I can believe
Maybe
But we go down.
She does not listen
-Does she ever?-
And her disguise is cheaper every day-
The way I like it.
She hates lying
She hates hiding
She wants something more, maybe...
Maybe
But we go down.
She's never gone this far before
Never stumbled
Never been so confused
And I hold her, frantically wrapping her up
In her paper-thin disguise.
She falls.
But I hold and hold and hold
And think
Maybe
But we go down.
She wants independence.
She wants life.
She wants adventure.
She wants everything she cannot have.
So I hide, but
The cheap imitation steals it away.
She will get what she wants.
We are trapped
She hates me
I hate the imitation.
I am tired of the imitation.
I imagine and think
Maybe
But we go down.
She is a storm.
I tell her
Silence. Silence.
She has become the cheap imitation
But I am tired. I am tired of lying
Of hiding
Of silence.
So I tell her.
Take it off, take it off.
Be real. Be you. And do you know?
She is beautiful.
She hates being beautiful. She wants to stay in the lie.
She thinks
She says
She cries
She screams
Maybe
But she goes down.
She watches.
I watch.
She longs.
I think
Maybe
But I go down.
