I'm a 17 year old full time geek, writer, big sister, and awkward dork who plays guitar and wears converse every chance I get. I absolutely LOVE Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Narnia, and the Inheritance Cycle.
I'm homeschooled, so that leaves me quite a bit of time for reading. I freaking adore books. Classics are mostly my favorite. You can NOT go wrong with classics. Seriously, they're history. Some of them might be really tedious, but if you want to write good books that can hopefully become classics in the future, read them. Read them all. Read fantasy. Read science fiction. Read historical fiction. Read, read, read, read. Whether you realize it or not, you're learning something new every time you pick up a book.
You know, to create a character, you must be the character. Every person your writing brings to life has a small part of you in them.
I think it's because you have many lives that you write. Sometimes the story just has to be told, no matter what.
Stories take us places that we've never imagined. So pick up your pen, or open that new document. Lets go on an adventure. Just remember that the brave men didn't kill the dragons, the brave men rode them.
