Soul-Killed

The lady took a seat at the bar, her demeanor that of someone down on their luck. She looked at the stranger behind the bar and raised her hand. "Hey, you the drink slinger 'round here? Could really use one." She requested before wipping her bruised cheek with the back of her hand.

            "That I am." The male with very short brown hair said with a faint smile. However, that smile drained from his face when he looked up and noticed the bruise on her face. "What–" He tried to speak, "What are you having?"

            //  It's brilliant!  :D

“There’s something unsettling about you, I don’t know why. You just give off an unpleasant vibe, who are you?” The woman quietly says, hovering her hand over the handle of her gun. She didn’t have any intentions of harming the other, unless they provoked her, but their presence felt a bit off.

"Um." Lannaril glanced at her hand, reaching out with his own, and completed the handshake. His hands were clammy and slightly rough to the touch.
            "I'm Lewis. Like I said earlier." He muttered that last part. It was very tempting for him to reveal his actual name matter-of-factly, but he'd lied earlier about it in the spur of the moment so now it just felt awkward.
            He shuddered from the bitter chill in the air. It got hot in the tavern with so many people in there and now being stood outside in just his thin shirt and jeans was making him cold. It made him wish he had brought his jacket.
            While readjusting the backpack that was slung over one of his shoulders, he sniffled.
            "Well, to be honest... if you work in that kind of department, then I guess you already can deduce that I'm lying. I'm Lannaril. I'm... It's a weird name... So."

                 The deputy nods, noticing the fatigue in his eyes, suggesting he's just finished work. She offers a warm smile and extends a gloved hand for a handshake. “I'm Georgia, I work for the sheriff’s department. What’s your name?” she asks, her curiosity about Lannaril growing. Though she senses he has a story to tell, she doesn't pry, respecting his privacy. It's a relief to meet someone sane, a welcome change from the lunatics she's been dealing with lately.

            The shapeshifter's eyes settle on the other man. He shakes his head softly at the drunken male's behaviour, and then his gaze returns to Georgia. The suspicion that practically radiated from the woman should have been unsettling for him, but he was accustomed to people being curious or sceptical for one reason or another.
            "I work here part-time." He glanced down and touched the purple and black bracelet on his left wrist.
            "So, what's your name? I haven't seen you here before either."

 // lannaril is a changeling character based on dungeons and dragons lore. he can shapeshift. although this is kept a secret, and he is often seen in his preferred human form.
            the human form is somewhat tanned and has dark brown hair.
            his true form is going to be unspecified here until it is brought up in rp.

            there's a lot of little facts about lannaril that are just waiting to be unearthed by people. there's more depth to him than meets the eye.

  // mature and potentially upsetting themes may be mentioned in some roleplays. my character has a sad past, to say the least.
            i'm an adult, and my character is also an adult– just to clarify.
