Hey Everyone,
So all of today, Ive been trying really hard to just be okay, you know? To try and not think about what is happening, because it just hurts too much to even think about. Independence day huh, But who really is independent? A 5 month old baby girl? A 3 year old? A 7 year old? A 15, 20,30,or a 50+ women?? Who really is independent in India today? Let me answer that. The entirety of the MALE population. From the moment they are born, they are free and independent to do what they want and to get away with anything and everything. Everyday we get up and pray that " God, I really wish it isn't me today."
What is the country we are living in doing?? I agree that in the past few years, India is developing, and hell it has become the third largest economy in the world, but is it realling growing?? Will it really grow if the women in India are not safe even inside Hospitals and Colleges??
You know , I heard this somewhere and it hit me soo hard, Ive not been able to think about anything else.. Till a few years ago, people did not want a girl child, because of the backward thinking, But now? People are praying they dont give birth to a daughter, so that she isn't the next victim. How horrendous and horrifying have the acts against women being?
This is the time we all stand up and face the country, face the world and face all the MEN, and make them realise we aren't some object or some thing they can use. And instead of teaching us, daughters, to stay at home, the sons and the male should be taught, should know how to make a women feel comfortable and safe around them.
I have many a times, in the past, told that I'm proud to be an Indian, but right now, at this moment, on Independence day, Im ashamed to say that I'm born in a country, where "Durga" and "Laxmi" are worshipped as goddess, but women are treated as dirt!To every women out there, who has gone through something, and Im sorry to every girl that you had to even hear about such horrifying crimes!
