Hello. So yes, I'm still writing the update though for the next few days I'll be away due personal family reasons. I may not be able to reply to your comments and messages but I've read them and I greatly appreciate it. :D
If you read my profile, you may notice there is only one other work apart from SDW. The Skywatcher is an unfinished original story - and will probably remain that way forever. It is supposed to tell the story of two Filipino siblings and their bond tested through circumstance and time. I initally stopped because the idea was too big to handle for my thirteen year old writing skills. But now, I just think the idea itself isn't as compelling as it sounded back then. The only reason why it's still here online is to serve as a time capsule for the readers and myself to compare my writing style then and now.
If you read this, you may notice a key difference: tense change. For TS I used past tense, heavy on action words and the telling. SDW uses present tense, even on flashbacks.
There's another huge difference between my writing then and now but it isn't so obvious. It lies on how the story is told figuratively. I used to write stories for storytelling sake- the words and message straight to the point. This time, however, I use literary devices such as easter eggs, metaphors, foreshadowing, allegories - the good stuff. I also plan ahead the events and sequencing of the chapters in excruciating detail. I think this is largely influenced by writing poetry in the last two years and as poems go, not everything is found in the surface.
Somewhere Deep Within may be a fan fic, but in no way is it simply just. Everything you see and read, insignificant it may seem, lies a reason. This is why I love writing it, and why I am keen to finish it once and for all. So please be a little patient. I hope you all look forward to the next update. It's going to be emotionally heavy so you're in for a ride.
Thanks again and have a nice day!
❤ Vicky
