Yesterday I joined the Black Lives Matter Protest in Groningen, because me and my best friend were feeling really troubled about the situation in America and wanted to show our support in a more active way. It was calm, short and peace and I am happy that I went. With everything that is going on I have realised that I want to educate myself properly and want to do everything I personally can to make the future a better place. I hate how we still have to worry about equality in 2020, a time that we claim as 'progressive'. I want to learn about how I as a person can peacefully be as progressively as possible in my way of thinking and as good too people as I can. I've always thought this was the way you had to treat others, I strongly believe in equality. But I thought that was something everyone understood in one way or another. But that's not the case, so as an alley I will in my way support and educate people (peacefully without force or pushing my opinion upon others) by sharing information and actively being non-racist. In my opinion only saying blBlack Lives Matter is not enough. Although I'm not the most active myself, sharing information, videos, signing petitions etc. is actively helping as well just as actively changing your own behaviour is. But especially letting people if color speak their minds and listening to it! They are the ones being upset and hurt, not you. It is human decency to treat their feelings as valid.
I just needed to get some thoughts out. Let's just al work together to create a better world for everyone. X
