This is the first short story I've written in a while...not entirely true. I did write one I submitted to an anthology that they didn't pick up. Maybe I'll post that sometime, but I've been busy cleaning up the second book in my fantasy series for publication.

Some of the short stories I write are from a site that has a weekly 100-word challenge based on a picture. Some, like this week's, seem designed to evoke cuteness or nostalgia, and I had no desire to write either, so I've subverted the picture some this week.
