I am a family man in my mid forty's, spent the last almost twenty years in business and an avid amateur historian. My interest in history really took off after discovering a vast collection of letters that my grandfather left behind when he died in 1970's from a car accident. The letters had not been read for more than 40 years.

I come from a long line of German Jews who have kept a tradition of recording our ancestry for 15 generations. My grandfather prepared our family tree based on documentation and knowledge gathered since the 1600's. You are welcome to view this family tree here http://www.wsupress.wayne.edu/fromthingslost/tree.html.

This family tree was the most prominent feature in my home and is the earliest memory I have as a child. Since I discovered my grandfather's letter collection in 2008, I have traveled a journey rediscovering my family story which resulted in a book, two documentaries and an exhibition now showing in South African museums. You are welcome to read more about this at www.fromthingslost.com and http://www.sajr.co.za/news-and-articles/2017/08/31/treasure-trove-of-letters-spotlights-jewish-life-in-nazi-germany .

This is based on extensive research of thousands of hours into the question of whether the German Nazi restitution and compensation program worked? https://www.wattpad.com/story/141671882
