Why is it socially acceptable for a girl to obsess over boys, celebrities, sex, alcohol, drugs, etc. but the moment she obsesses over anime, cartoons, video games, books, or fictional characters she’s a weirdo, a pariah, and there’s something wrong with her??? Like?? Something’s not adding up

MoodIsland

@darkconfetti And I'm actually a lot louder and crazy irl than on here (even though I'm still those things to a maximum)

@darkconfetti Yes!! Whenever he tries to tell me that, I wish I could find the words to say it's not what he thinks it is, just like how not everyone on the internet aren't like Twitter users (overly sensitive and defensive for no reason), not everyone is the same, and it's unfair to think that way. I mostly use fanfiction, not only as an escape from my homelife, but to express myself in the ways I can't irl. I have a much easier time stating what I feel through any form of writing than speaking (even though if you knew me irl, you would think the opposite lol)

@MoodIsland Yeah, Emberlynn! You got her name right lol! And that is pretty stereotypical and ignorant of your brother because not ALL fanfic writers are like that. In fact, I am unnaturally calm and composed irl haha! Fanfic is another art form and medium to express love for fiction and it’s such a great escape honestly.

Guys, I’m so so sorry about not being specific enough with the trigger warning in chapter 11. A close friend of mine suggested I touch briefly on the disturbing topics mentioned, so I did. I promise they are brief mentions and nothing more. No graphic depictions! I apologize to anybody who was caught off guard.

sezzles149

No need to stress at all, thank you for your understanding!

I hate it when people say that fanfiction is only for teenagers and kids. I want to be 50 years old and still enjoying reading and writing fanfics please lol!

@sezzles149 Omg yes!! That’s the worst!! I honestly don’t see it as cringe at all because fanfiction is just another medium like books, movies, TV shows, video games, etc. I don’t see any harm in enjoying fanfics as an adult. And thank you so much!! <333 Just wait till they find out that their favorite shows, books, games, and movies are written by *gasp* aDuLTs!!

As well as people thinking it’s cringe and all that clearly don’t understand that there are so many AMAZINGLY written stories out there, including yours, that have much more depth than some of the things they read

Why do people keep labeling Akutagawa as emo??? Like, he’s obviously goth, both in terms of fashion sense and personality. His music taste would also definitely lean more towards goth (post-punk) and death rock, not emo. I swear this is coming from people who can’t tell the difference between goth and emo.

darkconfetti

@GothQueenKarai sure! So emo and goth are both music-based subcultures, that’s where the roots are. If you listen to the lyrics, instrumentals, and themes of the music, they are very different. But there are also stylistic differences relating to fashion. Emos wear more color and have a more vibrant style, whereas goth is darker. The aesthetics, vibes, and pop culture associated with each is different as well. Random Goth Couple on YouTube has a good video explaining the differences more in-depth.

@darkconfetti I honestly can't tell the difference- I think emo is more emotionally and goth is an aesthetic?? Idk, can you explain it to me?

Doing research for the next chapter of my fanfic. We’re diving into some REALLY dark territory, folks.
