As for how I was dissatisfied with the ending, I just didn't get why things had to end up that way.. like, she's smart, sharp, and definitely not stupid when it comes to matters of the heart, but what I don't understand is how she gets so cruel to herself.
It's unfair, and even more so, unfair to the three men who liked her.
She said she didn't want to hurt anyone, but with how she handled things—she still ended up hurting them, and even worse, she was hurting herself.
Sigh, but don't misunderstand or have some prejudice about her character just because of my rants. Yiyi is, in fact, a very likeable character; if not, Ah Su, Xingzhou, and Sheng Xiao wouldn't have fallen for her so deeply.
And the blame isn't all on her; the love interests were all selfish, after all—they all wanted to covet her for themselves, not caring if she's willing or she wanted it.
But I guess the main conflict throughout the whole novel is the pheromones.
Because the MC hated the feeling of being controlled by mere pheromones and, even more so, hated the fake infatuation and attraction it gives.
She's not hypocritical; she's self-aware and knows her priorities well.
However, sometimes things could get so contradictory that you would really feel frustrated for the poor MC and for the three love interests.
