↳ Pandora's Box
Prometheus and his brother, Epimetheus pledged loyalty to Zeus. Zeus rewarded the brothers for their loyalty by giving them the job of creating the first creatures to roam the earth. Epimetheus formed animals and gave each a special skill and a form of protection.
Prometheus took his time molding man, but was left with no form of protection because of his brother. Prometheus asked Zeus if man could have heaven's fire but Zeus refused, fire was only for the gods.
Prometheus ignored Zeus and gave man fire anyway. His action was punished by chaining him onto a mountain to have his liver eaten by an eagle for all eternity.
But Zeus also wanted to punish man for accepting the fire. To do so, Zeus created Pandora. She was molded to be as beautiful as the goddess Aphrodite and received many gifts from the gods such as: wisdom, grace, kindness, peace, generosity and health.
Zeus gave Pandora to Epimetheus to take as his wife. To which he excepted right away. As a wedding gift, Zeus gave Pandora a box and warned her to never open it. Pandora, filled with curiosity ignored the god's warnings and opened it.
Horrible things flew from the box: greed, envy, hatred, pain, disease, hunger, poverty, war and death. All of man's miseries had been let out into the world. Pandora closed the lid quickly, the last emotion, hope, left inside the box. Ever since, mortals have held onto the hope in the box in order to survive the wickedness that Pandora let escape.
