Dirgahayu Republik Indonesia! Today is my country, Indonesia’s 76th Independence Day. Due to a large scale mobility restrictions still implemented in the island, we cannot celebrate it how we usually do; normally we’d have various competitions and get together within our neighborhood but I mostly spend it only with my family. We reflect on a lot of things, how it was only 76 years ago that we were able to finally name ourselves victors from centuries of colonization, fighting for the right to live, fighting for our freedom. We also reflect on how even though the physical war is over, we still have a lot of things to fight for. To live the way we do, is a privilege that many in other parts of the world does not have the ability to do. We pray for them, we keep them in our minds and hearts. We pray for our country, still in the Top 3 globally worst affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, believe when I say our charts and statistics in that particular area are through the roof and not in a good way, at all. But most importantly, we are grateful. To still be alive to this day, having what we have and still able to fight for our rights. I am grateful to be born, raised and be a part of this beautiful country. I am a proud asian woman, I am a proud Indonesian. Salam Sejahtera dari Indonesia ❤️
