So I was writing some of A Shift In Hell (out soon) and I was trying to write a cute romantic scene between two of the characters. I sent it to a group chat with two of my friends and asked them their opinions.
One of them loved it, she said it wasn’t too cheesy or cringey, and it was the perfect mix of playful and romantic. The other one said it was stupid and lame.
Needless to say, I decided to listen to the friend who loved it. She then asked if she could read everything I’ve written so far, and I said I couldn’t but I did send her a few of my favourite excerpts from the book. Now she’s asking me to finish it ASAP and print it out so that I can give her a copy! A third friend of mine, who is helping me to write City of the Damned, wouldn’t want to read any cute, sappy, romantic scenes so I sent her some of the more gory and disturbing parts of the book— I’m not sure how worried I should be about her, because she loved it.
Anyway, the point of this announcement is that I’ll be writing in overtime for the next few days or weeks, so if you liked the story description of A Shift In Hell, you can expect it will be out quite sooner than I’d originally planned (originally the timetable was July next year). Happy reading!
