The momentum died.
Oh the poor story. RIP in peace SDM.
Even though mine's slowed to a crawl, I'm still moving forward, man. Gotta start the Volume 3, Herald, cuz people gotta know what happens when my main character chooses to banish the deuteragonist instead. They also gotta know exactly how different the two stories can end up becoming - Messiah is quite light-hearted with a couple of jokes thrown in here and there, but Herald is all-out serious.
I mean, I could always bring up the excuse "Oh, I'm self-checking and polishing up my Volume 1 so I can send it over to the publishing company" and it's not a lie, that's actually a thing - I'm hooked up with Partridge Publishing now, and they say the heart and soul of my story beats powerfully combatting J. K. Rowling's classic Go-To-School-Goody-Two-Shoes piece o' manure Hairy Porter was.
Yet here I am, continuing on Volume 3 instead of refining the past to make it really good.
Cuz love is the greatest when it goes against all odds, friend. Love is the most powerful when everything else stands in your way. Love is a selfish proclamation of wanting something done, and seeing how the character forces himself through all the muck and yuck of life to make his proclamation a reality.
And my proclamation right now is, "Let's show the world just how dark Herald can be." So I neglect Volume 1's fine-tuning for now.
What's your proclamation?
