okay , fine ! * with a blissfully unaware smile , the idiot of a sniper practically bolted towards the other with zero fear — jumping at the last minute with no idea as to what was to come *

how much longer do we have to wait out here ? * the words are mumbled low beneath his breath , the air being exhaled into a cloud before the brunet's face. fucking detroit weather .. even this late into spring , every now & then , the nights would be freezing. * i can't feel my fingers .. & they've been talking for ages.

great. just because fowler's ass can stand out here for hours in the cold , doesn't mean that we should too. if he keeps us out here any longer , half of his officers are going to catch frostbite & be out of commission for at LEAST a few days. yet , his incompetence ass will probably STILL demand full attendance. * despite how bold gavin's words were , he kept them below his breath ,, quieter than the soft murmurs of other officers. he didn't want to get a warning speech from fowler .. nor did he want busy work for after hours. * does he not understand the fact we're ready to go home ? * the small human , so caught up in his complaints , almost didn't hear the words of his partner .. * what ? * he glances up , brows narrowing. * how the hell can you do that ?

@detcaffeine ㅤㅤ— ㅤㅤ[  while  nines  had  long  since  grown  accustomed  to  his  partner's  complaints,  that  didn't  quite  mean  he  was  entirely  immune  to  them.  sure,  he  could  easily  tune  the  words  out  —  but  over  time,  the  android  had  grown  inexplicably  ..  / swayed /  by  them,  and  therefore  forced  into  ' caring '  for  the  smaller  male.  odd.  ]  from  the  looks  of  it,  i'd  say  that  the  conversation  is  far  from  ending.  captain  fowler  seems  to  be  thoroughly  enjoying  himself. [  &  the  captain  was  —  laughing  and  conversing  easily  with  another  department  member,  leaving  his  officers  to  fend  for  themselves.  nines, of course, didn't mind. his human, however .. ] if you'd like, i can warm you.

* when you had a job like gavin's — a detective at detroit's police precinct — you occasionally forget how much other people played a part in your routine. gavin could tell you that first hand. you see , he had been assigned a case that took up / hours / of his day. he couldn't even begin to tell you how many hours he spent after hours , filing reports — ; during hours , doing stakeouts & questioning suspects. it was a repetitive cycle ,, one that didn't seem to have an end. however , it did have an end — & gavin finally met it. * you sure you got the rest of this handled , chen ? i know nines & i kicked the hell outta them , but they may give you problems. * they had finally done it — ; finally cracked the case & caught their suspects. of course , neither party escaped without some wounds ( though both gavin & nines were thankful none of theirs were fatal , ) & gavin could already feel the pain setting in as the adrenaline faded away. * i'm not getting smart — just saying .. yknow ,, i'll take my leave. this if your area now , cleanup crew. * now gavin may have talked with snark , but in actuality , he was exhausted. as he walked away from the cops littering his crime scene , he could feel the effect of all those nights hitting him at once. at that moment , he forgot all about the wounds he had obtained just moments ago ( a few cuts & bruises here & there ) & suddenly wanted sleep. though , his night was far from over .. god — he needed to find his partner. he wandered around for a bit , stature slumping further the more he went , until he found his partner — finishing up talking with one of the officers. * tin can .. been looking for you. you okay ? nothin' broken from earlier , right ?

thanks a fucking lot , fowler. * another stack of reports , another late shift. these things were as familiar to the duo as bloody bodies & yellow tape were to all cops — all nighters were practically the males' second language. it was almost as if fowler enjoyed seeing them stay after work , & be exhausted the next day ( gavin was usually the exhausted one. ) the brunet's eyes scanned the documents , a rough sigh leaving him as he stood from his desk. / fuck , / he needed another a coffee. he slumped over to the machine , making a coffee with ten shots of expresso ; before returning to his desk. on the way back to his desk , he caught a glimpse at his partner's empty desk ( his partner having gotten up to get something from the printer ) & on his revolving chair , sat the other's bright , tacky , cyberlife attire. now , maybe gavin was more tired than he assumed — maybe he thought the idea was funny — ; whatever the reason may be , he didn't think twice about walking to the other's chair , & putting on the oversized jacket , quite ignoring his conscious saying THIS JACKET ISN'T YOURS. he then set back in his chair , staring mindly at his screen for a few seconds more , only to perk up when footsteps were heard nearing the bullpen * about time. thought you were gonna run off & leave me here to do this shit myself.

@detcaffeine :⠀⠀⠀⠀i've been able to so far . [ for a moment , he's tempted to ─ like the absolute asshole he is ─ tip gavin's chair over ( god , nines absolutely hated it when gavin tipped his chair like he always does ) , but he ignores the urge , simply quirking a brow in question at the human's rather .. vehement response ] why do you want to wear / mine / ? i don't necessarily have a problem with it , but it is rather out of character .. seeing the avid android hater to wear an android's jacket . though , if you truly insist on continuing to wear it ─ please try to avoid spilling anything on it . or i might just make you pay for a new one .

ʻ keep me in check ? ʼ hell , if fowler thought that keeping me in check with a robot was a good idea , he's in for a rude awakenings. not even someone as skilled as you can keep me in line. * he leans back in his chair , tipping his mug back & downing more of the beverage. fuck , was he gonna crash tomorrow * doing my reports is my job , whether i do them or not dipshit — wait , what ? * he said around the rim of his mug , placing it back onto their desks before furrowing his brows at the other's words. he looked down to the jacket , studying the details ; from the color , to the logo , to the other's model number. yeah , this definitely wasn't his jacket .. but honestly ? gavin didn't mind ( more like he was too far out of it to care ) * i didn't mess up my own jacket , asshole , * he muttered , before lazing gesturing to his own jacket which had been thrown onto his desk * didn't mess it up. just wanted to wear this one. got a problem ?

@detcaffeine : actually , i'd believe you to be pretty incapable . otherwise i hardly doubt that , when you were assigned an android partner , captain fowler would say it's to ' hopefully keep you in check ' . [ & for once , there's amusement lacing his tone ; an emotion that is usually foreign to him , but as he had become closer and more comfortable with his partner ( thus losing the constant hostility ) , had become far more common in their interactions ] doing your reports .. wearing MY jacket ? [ he makes sure to put emphasis on just WHO , exactly , the jacket belongs to as he carefully scrutinizes gavin , head tilting to the side slightly as he does so ] don't you have your own ? or did you once again , SOMEHOW , mess it up ?
