My beloved dog, Merlin, crossed the bridge last night. He never left my side in the 10 years he was with me. Two years ago, he survived a necrotizing virus that took his entire right side. His doctor and the wonderful staff at his vet spent almost five months keeping him alive. Several times we thought we would have to put him down, but Merlin kept wanting to fight. This time, kidneys and age took hold and he asked to end his misery.
I will never have such a loyal or loving dog like him again. He was one of a kind.
Time will tell when another will be rescued and share his bowl and leash. Not to replace, but spread the love to another homeless dog.
Please, please, please, adopt. Not buy. Critters from the shelter know they are being given a second chance.
