“If I bury this here,” I murmured, pushing the glass just enough for him to flinch, “you’ll bleed out before they even get a chance to carry you to the hospital. You think I’m scared to do it?”
I leaned closer, my breath brushing his cheek. “I’ve been convicted once. I’m not afraid to make it twice.”
He stuttered something—maybe my name—but I didn’t care. Ang lakas ng tibok ng puso ko, parang humahampas sa tenga. Ramdam ko mga tingin ng tao sa paligid, pero wala akong pakialam.

I let the silence drag, savoring the weight of his attention. Then I let a slow smile curl across my lips.
