LIFE HACK: You can read fanfic without any ads, without being begged to join premium, and "Offline Read" by downloading fics straight to your device if you join AO3! Literally!
@doesnotloveyou right? they found a new market when After got big and was adapted into its own story, and now they think because an author here got lucky they can put 80% of their site behind a paywall
@neverforeverx like, i just want to read and write silly stories, not have to pay to be here. fanfiction is notoriously free, who do they think they are?
man, the fact we have to be promoting other fanfic sites ON a fanfic site is literally mad. i hate that wattpad joined the ‘give us money or enjoy an ad every 3 seconds’ bandwagon
I am unpublishing some works! You can still read them on AO3.
I'm doing this because WP is placing ads within fanfiction and not compensating writers for use of their content as a space to advertise. Regenerate and the MCU timeline book will remain available for now.
Wattpad making me watch ads on my own content feels illegal. Youtube would at least pay me. AO3 would know that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
