IMPORTANT- I’m taking a break from wattpad- not sure how long it’ll last, maybe forever. My parents don’t know I have wattpad and keeping the secret is just stressing me out unnecessarily. I may never come back to wattpad, but if I don’t come back, I’ll probably go to ao3 at some point. I’m not deleting my account, just logging off and deleting the app. Anyway... b y e

Just changed my bio so that it says I’m bi instead of omni so I wanted to explain I fit under the definition of omnisexual, but I also fit under the definition of bisexual. I sorta envision bi as an umbrella term (that’s just my view on it), and omnisexual falls under it. I should be clear- I have no problem with micro-labeling. I just don’t want to place myself into such a specific definition, because sometimes I have no fucking clue how I identify and bi can be fairly general, whereas omnisexual is quite specific. That’s not a bad thing, I just want to give myself room for when I don’t know how to identify. So yeah, I’m bisexual, just wanted to get that out. And again, I DO NOT think micro-labeling is bad, if you micro-label, you’re just as valid as those who don’t <3

Heteronormativity is so deeply ingrained in our society oml. My mom is supportive of the lgbtq+ community, but she (unintentionally) perpetuates heteronormativity all the time, with comments about how my brother will be “such a ladies man” when he’s older and other stuff like that. A big part of it all comes down to the fact that the lgbtq+ community is so underrepresented in media. When I was younger, I knew gay people existed, but I didn’t know about bisexuality, asexuality, trans people, etc. And it’s insane looking back on it that I didn’t realize my friend was a lesbian well before she came out- she would talk about how cute several actresses were and stuff like that and all I thought was “hMm YeS jUsT gAlS bEiNg PaLs aNd AdMiRiNg EaCh OtHeRs BeAuTy” No, Harold, they’re lesbians. People aren’t educated on any of it. In all my years of school, the only time anything lgbtq+ related came up was a passing mention when we were learning about the Holocaust- just when listing other groups that the Nazis persecuted, homosexuals were among them. That’s the only mention of the lgbtq+ community. And we learn about racism, we learn about sexism, and we learn about anti-semitism, don’t we? And a reason we learn about those things is so that we’re less likely to repeat past hate and mistakes, right? So why the fuck don’t we learn about homophobia and transphobia? Anyway there’s my two cents on heteronormativity folks thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, rant over.

( @dont-call-me-eds ) period !!! i'm so proud and appreciative of you for using your platform to attract awareness to ignored topics such as this , and i whole-heartedly agree with you . the lgbtq+ community is rarely ( if ever ) addressed in a school setting , which is ridiculous to me considering the homophobia and bullying pressed onto gay , lesbian , bi , trans , asexual , etc. students and faculty on a daily basis within the school's walls . society needs to speak more openly about these people and the unfair and unnecessary treatment they experience just as we speak up about racism , sexism , etc. we are humans too . our sexualities don't define us , nor do they determine our rights , nor should they be a reason to discriminate against us . okay , i'm done ranting for now .
