@ TheNanoWatt thank you! Received and replied :) Very excited.

(PS: forgot to ask in my email response but I'm super curious how the audiobooks were chosen :0 cause beyond being indie I don't really see a pattern connecting them, so I'm just wondering if there's some backstory there :D)

Hi, I just finished the Wings of Gold series. The Thief's Dragon was a Wattpad pick and I really loved it. According to the reading list, it's 6 books, of which 2 have been published. Is there any future updates for the rest?

dragonthusiast

@ loveislove69m Hi, thank you for reading :) I am currently focused on finally finishing the last book in the Nightstar trilogy, and then I'm very likely going to start writing the next book for Wings of Gold. So yes, I will write the remaining 4, I just need to focus on Nightstar or I'm never going to get it done I'm thinking either this month or next is when it will get done?

After pointing out to @The_Abyssal_Loom in their contest Astral Arena why it's messed up to ask if a writer's book has queer characters or not and separating entries accordingly (as if queer stories need to be quarantined), and having a conversation about the issue, I seem to have been blocked by them. But they did apparently remove the question from the form. This is definitely the most confusing outcome, but I'm glad they removed it at least, even if I can't join now.

dragonthusiast

@ uschibear it is, but just today I had this exact experience with another contest, I don't understand why they're all so insistent on segregating stories for no reason

@dragonthusiast I find this such an odd behavior. Strange they blocked you out. Very confusing.

@ pixelmum lmao true, but their attitude didn't change I don't think, throughout they made excuses that make no sense, which is the usual experience every time I've started these dialogues

When will you give the update for Bring the Dawn ✋

dragonthusiast

@ Jisoo984 aw thank you, I'm all good though, just don't have nearly as much free time or energy to write. But I will get this book done eventually, no worries

@ Jisoo984 hey, thanks for checking in :) I'm hoping I get some writing done this weekend, but that's what I also thought last weekend. I got a new job in june so that kinda grinded things to a halt

Cheers for the follow! I have to say its a relief to have someone follow me who is a writer and not a bot or a scam artist for once.

dragonthusiast

@Tyranidlord Oh yeah, gotcha. When I was writing fanfic mine were always novellas, I don't think it even occured to me to make them long, to be honest. I usually just get ideas that are complimentary to the already existing story. But I've read plenty of epic novel length fanfics before, even if the majority are on the shorter side.

I was just curious about the distinction here. To me a fanfic is just a story that uses or is reliant upon a preexisting work to some extent, no matter length or tone, and same goes for an original.

Tyranidlord

@dragonthusiast A bit of both. The nature of writing about something like an RPG game that has no set protagonist/player character means that my protagonist is an original character, but almost all the other characters are ones directly from the game and as close to their original personalities etc as I can possibly get them.

What I meant about the whole understatement thing is down to the sheer scale/size of my fics. In terms of word count alone most of them are epic novels. I'm not sure how else to put it but I wrote them all in the same style/way that I would write a traditionally published novel (its good practice after all haha)

Most of the other fanfics I've come across (Elder Scrolls related at least) a vast majority are short stories or novellas in length. Generally speaking of course.

@Tyranidlord Oh? :0 What would you call them? I see that you call them novels but a fanfic can be a novel. Are youre books more all original characters but in a pre existing universe type situation?
