so today i walked by a old lady . i complimented her . she didnt reply. i said "whats wrong ? didnt you like the compliment ? " she said "yes i very much did, but when my husband died 5 years , he used to call me the same thing, and i never replied to him ,bc he knew that i always said thank you in my heart , so why should i say thank you out loud now.  "  my eyes got tears in them and i walked away.
