Thomas Gratzer, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with over three decades of experience in general and forensic psychiatry. Throughout his career, he has worked with leading healthcare institutions in Minnesota's Twin Cities, including Regions Hospital, United Hospital, Fairview University Medical Center, and Psych Recovery. He is also soon to return to practice at Psych Recovery, continuing his longstanding commitment to patient care. His work combines clinical psychiatric care with forensic evaluations, allowing him to support patients and legal professionals alike.

Dr. Thomas Gratzer has held several prominent roles in psychiatric medicine throughout his career. From 1995 to 2002, he served as Senior Forensic Psychiatrist at the Minnesota Security Hospital, where he focused on psychiatric evaluations and treatment for individuals with complex mental health conditions. He also worked as a consulting psychiatrist for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, providing specialized care to incarcerated youth for many years.

In addition to his forensic psychiatry experience, Dr. Gratzer served as an attending psychiatrist at United Hospital in St. Paul for more than two decades. His leadership and dedication to mental health care earned him the role of medical staff president at the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center. Throughout his career, he remained committed to strengthening psychiatric treatment standards while supporting institutions dealing with challenging behavioral health concerns.

Dr. Thomas Gratzer has also contributed significantly to psychiatric education and academic medicine. Between 2002 and 2021, he served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota Medical School. During that period, he lectured extensively to medical students, psychiatry residents, and law students at institutions such as the University of Manitoba, DePaul Law School, and Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center.
