Hi! So to everyone who reads "Keep Hope Alive" I noticed there was a lot of confusion centered around the climax! I will explain here!
Hizashi and Shouta's relationship from the beginning of the story has been strained. It starts out very small with Hizashi's small breakdown at the begining and it slowly escalates with Hizashi hiding his feelings about different things and the additional strain of being new parents add a lot of stress on their marriage. It's been slowly building and gaining tension kind of like a snowball in the background while I made Izuku the main focus because it is mainly his story, however all the clues are there!
In this climax arc, all of Hizashi's fears are out in open now and it finally dawns on Shouta and Hizashi how much their relationship has changed over the years. It's kind of a breaking point for both of them, but the falling action focuses a little more on them as a couple trying to make the active effort to be there, be supportive and learn how to be better. To me, relationships aren't meant to be "perfect" or without hardships but what makes them worth while is always making an active effort to learn and be better despite making mistakes.
My aim was to write a fun erasermic fam fic , but still try to include how stressful and realistic adopting a child is. It's definitely not a decision that should be taken lightly and even with proper preparation, taking care of a two year old is extremely hard and draining. I tried to portray the realism as best as I could while not being a parent so I'm sorry if there are vital mistakes!
Anyway, I hope this doesn't take away from the story at hand and that you still enjoyed! I had a lot of fun writing it (im still writing the epilogue) and I hope this clears some things up!
