"Andy always struggled with sleeping.
Nothing she ever did helped her fall asleep. That day must have been exhausting, though.
Heather had turned on some movie that was downloaded on her laptop, since the power had gone out. Andy had finished making the hot chocolate right before the black out. It was probably pretty late, so nobody really cared what they did. Andy was fighting for her life not to fall asleep. She wasn't sure Heather would mind, given that Ophelia was asleep against Andy's legs and Heather had already asked if she wanted to go to sleep at least twice.
The snow had caused a white out, and the moon was completely hidden from them. Andy's mind was drifting in and out. She watched Heather watch the movies, too tired to turn her head. Heather glanced down at her.
"I'd move for you to have the bed but you're kind of holding me here." Heather's voice was soft, gentle. Andy couldn't really process what she said. She was suddenly aware of her leg against Heather's and her arm over her stomach. Andy pulled away, causing Ophelia to let out a quiet growl.
"You don't have to move," Heather reassured her. Andy felt safe with her, which was terrifying. Her body was failing her, truly. How could she be this vulnerable around a near stranger? Her body ignored her mind, and she slept pressed against Heather that night."
