For some reason my best ideas come while doing math homework or mowing the lawn... I should mow the lawn and do math more often!

I finished reading The Guide to Writing Science Fiction and Fantasy (a long time ago, actually), and now I'm reading Description, Creating Characters: How to Build Story People, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (I skipped out on reading the Harry Potter series when it was my age group's turn, so I'm finally reading them now)!
I think I'd like to get a good hold on the practice of writing before I write anything major, so I'm working rather slowly on my novel. Right now I'm mostly developing the characters and story culture, since the plot will take more skill and experience on my part to develop very well.
Meanwhile I'm thinking of trying my hand at writing fan fiction. The story world and characters there have already been developed, for the most part, by the creators of the show(s) it's based off of. The hard part is coming up with an awesome plot! I have a basic foundation of an idea, but I'm still working out the details.

Thursday my friend's parents were out, so I walked home with her from school and we hung out until around 10 PM. We discovered that we both love writing (I've known her for almost 8 years, and somehow I never knew that she liked writing!! I guess it just never really came up long enough for us to talk about it), and so we are now both coauthoring a historical science-fiction story where we help end World War II!! She is writing one of the main characters, and I am writing the other. I've never even tried to coauthor a book before, so this whole experience is new for me. We are going to have to coordinate a lot. It will be interesting!

Randy Ingermanson's book (coauthored by Peter Economy), Writing Fiction for Dummies, finally arrived!! I've been home sick with a cold this week, so I've been reading it and making notes as I go, and I actually feel like there's hope for my novel now!! Before reading Writing Fiction for Dummies, I felt as if the story was really only an idea, and I was worried that it would be too overwhelming to write, since I haven't studies the trade much yet, but now I feel confident that, by the time I'm done reading the book, I'll be ready to write a decent first draft!! Thank you, Randy (and Peter)!
Oh, and today my mom bought me a drawing pad!!! I am going to use it to draw things that have to do with my book. I like to express myself in many various ways, and drawing is one of them, and now I can connect writing and drawing!!
Yes, I get excited easily. :P

I got the book for my favorite movie of all time last night: Star Trek: the Voyage Home!!!
My dad has already read the book, and he says that there's an entire other subplot where the trash men who see voyager land come back to investigate, and that just reassures me of the brilliance of the creators of Star Trek!! I love things that are logical, make sense, are realistic, and are futuristic, and appropriate/ kid friendly, and star Trek gives me all of that!!
I've seen the movie for star Trek: the Voyage home literally about a dozen times. I can hardly wait to read the book!

I finally came up with the title for my novel today!!!! I have 3 age groups (teen, young adult, and adult) who all agree that if they saw the title, they would definitely check it out and see if it is a book they want to read. The title is really awesome (I would post it here, but it's so good that I don't want it to be stolen)! It comments on the 2 major themes of my book: that everything, including bad things, will all work together for our good, and that not everything is black and white, and, rather, it can all tend to be kind of its own shade of grey.
Thank you, Skylar, for inspiring me to consider the title option more closely!

I met an author Saturday at Half-Priced Books!! Her name is Bonnie Lanthripe. The book she was showing was called The Ringleader, which is a novel based on the experiences of her grandson and his friends' adventures exploring a drainage culvert. Bonnie Lanthripe gave me a card with her contact information on it so I can email her and ask questions to get help writing my novel, which by the way, is not at all an unprofessional, childish, ironic story like The Underwater Festival is. The only thing comparable to it is that it's in English and that Science Fiction is often grouped with Fantasy.
Once I have read the book The Ringleader, I will post a review and post the link here! Not that anyone will notice, since everyone so far who has seen my page probably thinks I don't take writing very seriously, considering my story from when I was 9, but there's no harm in posting this anyway. :)
And I do take writing seriously. The Underwater Festival was written solely so I could have a not-happy ending that would bring people some smiles. And, like I said, I wrote it when I was 9 years old.

Brainstorming:
How can two men, potentially with the assistance of bystanders, humanely, ethically and quietly abduct a young, 19 year-old woman who is
serving faithfully as a full-time missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in a two-some companionship with her mission trainer, a sister missionary who is adamant in obeying the rules?
Resources include holograms, 3D printers on a mass scale, invisibility, camouflage, and other technologies that may be available in the 2200's. This does not include flying cars (though space and air craft are included), teleportation, or time travel.
