I've returned to Wattpad because FictionPress (FP) has become an utter cesspool of unsolicited art commission requests. On FP, it was through private messages and then comments on my actual stories once I turned off private messages.
I return to Wattpad, and I receive unsolicited art commission requests in the COMMENTS of my stories. Clearly, I'm not escaping this.
I report these comments as spam, of course. You'd think, "Oh, don't you want the view/comment/vote count on your stories on Wattpad?"
My answer to that is NO. No, I don't want spam to count as any type of engagement on my stories. It is, to me, insulting that they are using my actual story to promote their slop that I have no interest in. I could tolerate the private messages, but the story comments?
It's great artists are confident in their abilities as artists and that they are trying to get themselves out there; I really do commend them in that regard. I encourage it, but I draw the line at spam and especially spam on my stories.
So I'm just here, reporting spam. That's been 95% of my time back on Wattpad. The grass isn't greener on FP, but the grass certainly isn't green here on Wattpad.
If you could be awesome and report these spammy comments as well, I'll love you forever. No pressure, though....
