Things I have been learning:
1) Watching book reviews on youtube (or even just reading them on Goodreads) has been so helpful when it comes to brainstorming and developing my plot and characters. Highly highly recommend it! It helps put in perspective what readers are looking for (or not looking for) in different aspects of writing. You can't please everyone so definitely suggest following one or two reviewers that you like and going off of that. Here is a playlist on youtube called "Dear Authors..." that I have found to be super helpful.

2) Always have a notebook or something that you can write ideas down throughout the day on. I used to walk around and think about a really cool detail or idea I want to put in my story. And obviously, I assume that I can remember it later when I sit down to write. Because someone who is also juggling college assignments (which I also never write down... I know, you would think as a junior I would have it figured out by now, but no. :P) and a billion other things will definitely remember that small, tiny, very cool detail a week later. WRONG! WRITE IT DOWN ELLE! It has made my writing process so much better. Not only do I have something that I can go back to and refer to but also it gets me in the writing mood despite all that I have going on.
3) Find a friend and talk it through. My boyfriend and my sweet friend, Haven Berg are my saving graces when it comes to my writing. There are times where I am just stuck and can't find a way through despite all the planning I have done beforehand. And or there are times when things make sense for me but not for someone else. Either way, having another mind (or several) to bounce ideas back and forth with is super helpful.
